The research results of researcher Xu Xiaozhi and collaborators of the School of

"Journal of Semiconductors" initiated the recommendation and selection of the first "Annual Top Ten Research Progress of Chinese Semiconductors" in 2020, aiming to record the landmark achievements in the field of semiconductor science and technology research in my country. A selection committee composed of 43 authoritative experts in the semiconductor field, after two rounds of rigorous selection, 38 outstanding research results finally selected 10 according to the voting ranking. Our school’s School of Physics and Telecommunications Engineering, Guangdong Province Key Laboratory of Quantum Control Engineering and Materials, researcher Xu Xiaozhi, a young top-notch talent, and his collaborators, have achieved the most complete variety (more than 30) and the largest size (A4 paper size) for the first time in the world. "High-index crystal face single crystal copper foil library manufacturing" was successfully selected as "Top Ten Research Progress of Chinese Semiconductors in 2020".

  In recent years, with the continuous progress of micro-nano processing technology, the degree of chip integration has increased, and the problems of short channel effect and thermal effect have emerged, which puts forward higher requirements for material performance. Single crystal copper has excellent properties such as low loss electrical transmission and high heat dissipation performance, and is a preferred conductive heat dissipation material in the semiconductor industry. In addition, in the research and development of full two-dimensional devices, graphene and boron nitride are considered to be the best semi-metal and insulator materials in full two-dimensional devices, and single crystal copper foil is proven to be used for epitaxial growth of single crystal graphene. It is a key substrate for two-dimensional materials such as boron nitride. Therefore, the preparation of large-size single crystal copper foils with multiple symmetric structures is of great significance in the semiconductor industry.

     Researcher Xu Xiaozhi of our school, researcher Liu Kaihui of Peking University, the team of Academician Wang Enge, the team of Academician Yu Dapeng of Southern University of Science and Technology, and the team of Professor Ding Feng from the Ulsan Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea, etc. have proposed a new crystal surface interface regulation "variation and genetic" growth mechanism. For the first time in the world, the manufacturing of the most comprehensive and largest single crystal copper foil library with high-index crystal faces has been realized. The relevant research results were published in the "Nature" under the title "Seeded growth of large single-crystal copper foils with high-index facets". 》 Magazine (Nature 2020, 581, 406–410).
