讲座题目:Organic hybrid high quality microresonators for nonlinear optics

报告摘要:

    Ultra-high quality factor (Q) whispering-gallery microresonators are an promising platform for studying nonlinear optical (NLO) processes. The ultra-high Q ensures high circulating optical intensities within the resonator, reducing the threshold power needed to generate nonlinear phenomenon. However, materials that are available for fabricating high Q microresonators are very limited, hindering the further exploration of microresonators for nonlinear optics.

    On the other hand, organic NLO molecules have received extensive attention because of their higher optical nonlinearities and structural versatility. However, due to fundamental incompatibilities with conventional nanofabrication methods, limited success has been realized in the development of a cavity-nonlinear optics  using these materials.

    Driven by molecular materials, my research interest is exploring NLO molecule-modified resonators for optics and nonlinear photonics applications. In this talk, I will present my recent effort on some proof-of-concept fundamental work on high Q organically modified microresonators and their latest advances. Particularly, the impact of organic materials on Kerr optical frequency comb and stimulated Raman in high Q resonators will be discussed. Some research perspectives will also be covered in the end.

报告人简介:沈晓钦,2008年硕士毕业于中国科学技术大学高分子系,研究光响应聚合物。2013年博士毕业于新加坡国立大学化学系(激光光谱与成像),利用超快激光光谱和成像技术研究多光子吸收聚合物及其应用。先后在加州大学圣芭芭拉分校及南加州大学做博士后研究。长期围绕非线性光学器件与材料,从事谐振腔集成光子学、生物医疗光子学等领域的研究,在诸多跨学科前沿问题研究和探索工作。提出光学分子杂化高品质微腔结合概念,从材料的角度制备及研究新型微腔的非光学线性性质及应用。近年来,申报人以项目设计人和主要撰写人身份,参与了美国国家情报先期研究计划(IARPA)基金一项和美国陆军研究署(ARO)基金一项,申请美国专利一项。在Science,Science Advances,Advanced Optical Materials, Journal of American Chemical Society, Nanoscale, Macromoelcules 等国际著名期刊发表SCI论文10余篇,被引用580余次。
