报告题目:Development of long-term quantum memories using rare-earth

doped crystals

报告摘要:

Quantum memories for light with long storage times are required for quantum communication applications. Rare-earth doped crystals have been identified as promising candidates for the development of these memories due to the good coherence properties of their optically addressable quantum transitions.

     In this talk, I will briefly introduce the rare-earth based memory systems and present some impressive recent progress in this field. The focus will be on two rare-earth systems and the first one is Eu3+:Y2SiO5 in which a coherence time of 6 hours was achieved. This is the longest coherence time observed in a solid-state system so far. The second rare-earth earth system to be introduced is Er3+:Y2SiO5 in which a coherence times of 1.3 s was observed .This is the longest coherence time observed in a solid-state quantum memory system with optical transitions at telecommunication wavelengths.

报告人简介

钟满金,2018 年加入南方科技大学量子科学与工程研究院,担任副研究员。2009-2018 年间,在澳大利亚国立大学激光物理中心先后从事博士学习与博士后研究,师从于Matthew Sellars 副教授,研究方向为基于稀土掺杂晶体的固体量子存储器的开发。其博士阶段在稀土晶体中实现了6 个小时的量子存储相干时间,研究成果发表于《Nature》杂志。该成果激发人们探究:除了量子中继器,实现远程量子纠缠分布,是否有别的可选方案,比如固体量子硬盘?目前, 6 个小时依然为固体中实现的最长的量子存储相干时间。
