报告题目:Recent Progress in Effective Field Theory Approach to Lepton Number Violation

报告摘要:Report recent progress in effective field theories (EFTs) and low energy phenomenology relevant to lepton number violation (LNV) by focusing on the part of contributions that Professor Yi Liao’s group has made during the past few years. Start with a brief review on the current experimental bounds on LNV decays, and introduce the basic ideas of EFT. Then describe the current status of the two EFTs that are most relevant to new physics studies, i.e., the standard model effective field theory and the low energy effective field theory. As phenomenological applications, discuss the LNV charged kaon decays that have been computed completely in the framework of EFT and the LNV neutrino-photon scattering that is generally enhanced over the similar standard model processes. The report will be finished with a brief summary and outlook.
个人简介:廖益,清华大学工学学士,中国科学院理论物理研究所理学博士,现任南开大学物理科学学院教授。曾获得教育部新世纪人才支持计划(2006年度)、国家杰出青年科学基金(2010年度)资助。从事粒子物理学、量子场论方面的教学和研究工作。目前的研究工作集中在超越粒子物理标准模型的新物理方向,包括中微子质量产生机制及其唯象学、暗物质粒子及探测的理论研究。
